Choosing Beauty and the Presence of Choice

Your weight, age, and features have very little to do with being beautiful. It’s more of a conscious decision on your part. Much like how you can decide to wear sweats. Despite what many believe, beauty is a choice, so don’t get down on yourself if you haven’t reached your ideal weight or start to notice fine lines appearing. Choose to be the best you you are capable of being. It is really as simple as that.

Take Action

A popular Shakespeare quote states that “Action is eloquence.” Think about that for a second. No, really think about it. If you’ve ever been down in the dumps for a day or two, then you know how good you feel once you’ve managed to pick yourself up off of the couch and do your nails or braid your hair. Getting up and doing something about your looks is one of the best ways to choose beauty. It’s also a great way to choose happiness. A lot of people get caught up in negative patterns and often point fingers at things other than themselves as the cause, but no one but you is responsible for your happiness. The same goes for beauty: your weight isn’t to blame for your beauty or lack thereof, but you are. If you dress in clothing that makes you feel fat and ugly, then you’re going to look fat and ugly. You certainly won’t own it, so make an effort to doll yourself up, pick out an outfit that flatters your body, whatever size it is, and if that isn’t working for you, put yourself into action to change it. Make the effort, and that effort will make you.

Give Yourself A Break

If you’re uncomfortable with your appearance, you can end up being pretty hard on yourself. There are way too many people in the world who are more than willing to put you down. Don’t be one of them. If you’re experiencing breakouts from stress or noticing grays, don’t point them out, and don’t give yourself a hard time about those blemishes either. You can’t have complete control over how your skin reacts to hormones or stressful situations, and you also can’t dictate when those silver strands appear. Being hard on yourself about these things only serves to make you less motivated as if you’re giving up. Choose instead to get a great cut and dye job or a facial to combat those clogged pores.

Take Time Out To Pamper Yourself

One of the best ways to choose beauty is by treating yourself to a day of relaxation. It’s not entirely about spoiling yourself, but if you take a day to nurture your mind, body, and spirit, you’re honoring yourself, and that can go a long way towards creating beauty within that radiates outwards. Get a massage and follow that with some eyelash extensions or a tan. Choosing beauty is more than just slapping on some makeup, and these are a few things that can give you the feeling that goes with the look.

All in all, the idea that beauty is a choice rather than a circumstance starts with your self-esteem and emotions. Once you’ve taken care of that, the path to aesthetic beauty is extremely simple, so make the choice today, and start living a better life because of it right now.
