Lashes and Lipstick and Eyeliner, Oh My! Beauty tips from The Wiz Live!

On Friday, December 3, NBC continued their holiday tradition of airing live musical stage shows with the airing of The Wiz Live! While the network’s previous live musicals were less than stellar, NBC knew what they were doing with The Wiz!
The show certainly entertained and wowed the audience with the musical and dance numbers, but the production also offered some fabulous beauty moments as well. Here are some beauty looks you should definitely consider stealing from the residents of Oz.
Normally the Wicked Witch of the West is not someone we want to take beauty advice from (green skin? We’ll pass), but Mary J Blige as Evillene, is no normal wicked witch. Her smoky purple eye and cat-eye liner are definitely a beauty do for the winter season.
Create the purple smoky purple eye by using three purple shadows, one light, one medium and one dark shadow. Start with the light shade on the inner corners of your eye and just underneath your brow and above the crease. You may also use the light shadow to highlight the inner corner of your under eye. Next apply the dark shade along the upper lash line and blend up towards the crease and on the outer edge of your lower lash line.
Next use the medium shade half-way up your eyelid brushing it towards your crease. Make sure to blend the makeup so that it gets lighter from your lashes to your brows.
Next create the cat eye by using a black eyeliner to create a line from the inside corner lash line towards the eyebrows. Finish the look of with the Million Dollar Lash.

If being wicked isn’t your thing, you can use a similar technique to achieve Glinda’s golden smoky eye. A shimmery or sparkly gold color is extra festive for this time of year, but the look can also be created with matte gold shadows.
